Brainerd has a NEW series of retreats for children and youth from ages 8-16 years old! W. I. R. E. (Weatherly Institute for Robotics and Engineering) is partnering with Camp Brainerd to bring these programs to the youth of the Lehigh Valley and Poconos. Each of these retreats will have a focused scientific topic related to engineering and robotics – complete with experiments and hands-on activities to understand how it all works!
Staffed by volunteers from Camp Brainerd and W.I.R.E., come join us for a weekend of fun and learning! Parents are always welcome to attend, participate, and chaperone.
If you have questions about any of these exciting engineering and robotics camps, feel free to contact the office at Brainerd or the Retreat Leader, Stephen Goodale, at 570-401-7813.

Lego League Flyer | Like to build stuff with legos? Like remote controlled toys and robots? Well, this is the best of both worlds! Friday and Saturday you will learn how to build lego robots, and how to control them. You will have time to build your robot and practice with them throughout the day. Then on Sunday, your robot will compete against the other robots to see who is the winner!
Meals will be provided from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch.

Fee: $50 per person for the weekend
Aerospace Engineering Camp Flyer & Aerospace Engineering Camp Registration | How do airplanes fly? And how did we ever get a man onto the moon? We will have seminars about atmospheric flight and space flight, Bernoulli’s Principals, Newton’s Laws and the Laws of Aerodynamics. We will learn about each of these by building and flying all types of crafts, including launching model rockets on Sunday!
Meals will be provided from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch.
Alternative Energy Camp
Friday, April 20, 2012 at 6:00 pm – Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 1:00 pm
Fee: $50 per person for the weekend
Alternative Energy Camp Registration | Ever wonder how you can help Mother Earth by doing more than just recycling? Or how do those wind turbines work anyway? And what about those electric cars…how do they work? This weekend is your chance to learn about a lot of new, nontraditional technologies that can help us continue to live and also help our planet!
Throughout all of this, you get to be the builder. YOU get to create an actual scale model of a “green home” (1″ equal 1′) and see how a real green home is put together. Then when you actually go HOME, you can share with your parents some things your family can do to use these alternative energy sources.
Meals will be provided from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch.
